Locally Determined Contributions (LDC) Toolkit

This toolkit is to help local authorities align climate goals, delivery and investment.

Local authority delivery of responses to climate change – decarbonisation and adaptation – are paramount. However, currently there is no practical way to align national targets and local action, or alignment between local areas. There are also no standard reporting requirements or common approaches to investment in place-based delivery.

The LDC toolkit offers a place-based framework to help councils align climate goals, delivery and investment.

The toolkit enables place-specific, realistic and transparent targets to be developed, by providing an approach that can be used by any local authority to understand what they can and can’t have control and influence over, and prioritise action accordingly.

LDC workshop

Developed through Innovate UK Net Zero Living programme funding, the LDC toolkit was designed in partnership with Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Cambridgeshire County Council, Centre for Climate Engagement – Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge, Cambridge City Council, Peterborough City Council, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Huntingdonshire District Council, South Cambridgeshire District Council, and Collaborate CIC. The toolkit is now maintained by Climate Insights.
